In the first decade of the 21-century there can be no more serious challenge for any business than that of reconciling sustainable development with practical economics.  Our definition of sustainability is taken from Jonathan Porritt, Chairman of UK Sustainable Development Commission and Forum for the Future, who describes this as:

“...the capacity for continuance into the long term future”

Stated simply anything that can go on being done on an indefinite basis is sustainable – anything than cannot go on being done indefinitely is unsustainable.

The process by which we believe we, and all of us, have to do to move towards sustainability is that of sustainable development.

As part of our commitment towards sustainability, WHS Halo has set itself a number of key 'sustainability' challenges between 2006 - 2010.

These challenges have helped us focus on issues that we must address as a business. They are reviewed annually, to ensure that progress is being maintained and that we are all working towards the common goal of sustainability.
